You can’t win trophies in Football Manager 2021 without the perfect tactic. You can have the best players in your squad but, if you don’t have the formation and instructions to get the best out of them, you won’t be lifting any silverware anytime soon.

The FM community is always on the lookout for tactics that are a fast-track to success, and some players are only too happy to oblige in supplying them. If you would prefer to download and import one of these systems into your game to help you on your way, we are here to show you how.

First, you will need to find user-created tactics to try out. There are plenty of Football Manager websites where tactics are uploaded regularly, so it can be difficult to choose which ones to visit. The best places to try and FM Scout, sortitoutsi, and passion4fm. Browse their tactics sections to locate a system that will work for your team. Once you are happy with your selection, download the tactic to your computer. There should be a download symbol or link to click on the page you are viewing. After it has downloaded, you will need to import it to FM 21.

Click on the Football Manager 2021 folder and look for the tactics folder. If there isn’t a tactics folder, you will need to launch FM 21, start a new game, and save it. This will tell your computer that you have begun a new FM 21 save, and it will create a tactics folder.

Cut and paste the downloaded tactic file from the Downloads section of Windows Explorer to the FM 21 tactics folder. The file should be a “.fmf” file. Once it is in the folder, close Explorer and launch FM 21. After you load your save file, head to the Tactics tab on the left-hand menu.

Scroll down to the bottom of the list until you see the “Load Tactic” option. Click on it to bring up a sub-screen. If you have added your user-created tactics to the right folder, they will appear here. Select the one you want to use, and press “Load”. This will import the tactic into the three tactical options for your side.

Click on the plus symbol at the top of the tactics screen. Press the “Load” button and the sub-screen will pop up. Import tactics as above to add them to your game.
